History: In ancient times rose oil was considered more precious and valuable than gold. It was used for its fragrance and therapeutic properties. The Romans ate rose petals with honey. The fragrance symbolized love and beauty.
Characteristics: A top note with a strong aroma, Rose has a rich, sweet floral aroma close to the scent of the freshly picked flowers. Turkey and Bulgaria are the biggest producers of pure rose oil, and because of their climate, the petals of the flowers do not over-produce wax. Approximately 4000 kilograms of petals are required to produce 1 kilogram of pure rose oil. The exotic nature and value were appreciated in ancient times by the Greeks, Chinese, Indians, Persians and Romans. All documentation indicates that their medical applications of the essential oil were identical to those that exist today.
Indications: Used for dry skin, wrinkles, sensitive skin - especially babies', asthma, coughs, hay fever, sore throats, poor circulation, tuberculosis, liver congestion, hangovers, irregular menstruation, painful periods, impotence, frigidity, depression, and insomnia.
